Basic Marketing Tips
Type Tips…
When you are trying to get people to read type, the mantra of the day is “contrast.” It’s a proven fact, for example, that black type on red is much harder to read than black or navy on yellow or white. It’s also a good rule of thumb to watch how light you take your type. If you have a light blue tint and think white looks pretty on it, you might want to rethink that. Your white type may not show up well on a light background. And when you reverse out type (place a lighter type on a darker background), remember not to go too thin with your typeface. Research indicates, that bolder fonts are more easily read when type is reversed.
3 Times Is a Charm…
Hit ‘em three times, I always say. The one-two-three punch process is a very effective one for marketing. It is a proven fact that people tend to remember and respond more often when they have received a message at least three times. That is why it is always a good idea to run a few test ads, as opposed to one. Your audience will be more receptive and, subsequently, your test far more accurate. If you run 3 well positioned ads, your advertising vehicle is a proven one and your message is good with a strong call to action, you have a recipe destined for success.
And Always Remember to Think Like Your Audience…
When you are marketing to any audience, put yourself in their shoes. If you are retired, you have more time to read the paper, so newspaper advertising is a good way to reach you. A younger audience will be more responsive to social media. Working adults may be more apt to head an advertisement on the radio during morning drive time….and so on and so on.
